The Big Sheep

The Big Sheep is an amusement farm park in Abbotsham, a village in Devon. It sits on land once farmed by the same family for six generations. The site began as Abbotsham Barton Farm before changing direction in 1988. Michael Turner turned part of the farm into an attraction after roadworks divided the land. The park opened with an animal section, milking demonstrations, a shop and a restaurant. The park grew by adding entertainment after early farming ventures did not pay enough. Daily sheep races and shows became popular features. A roller coaster named Rampage was added in 2016 after being moved from an indoor park in Gateshead. The park also faced challenges, including losses during the 2001 foot-and-mouth outbreak. More recently, it hosted events that drew wider attention. Visitors find an indoor playground, animal barns and live shows throughout the year. There is a brewery and a gin distillery on site. The park has eight rides, including a roller coaster, farm safari and carousel. Outdoor play areas and pony rides are also available. Shops and two restaurants provide places to eat and shop.
