Evangelische Pfarrkirche Loipersbach

The Evangelische Pfarrkirche Loipersbach stands in the small Burgenland village of Loipersbach, near Mattersburg. It is a modest Lutheran church that belongs to the Burgenland superintendency. The building began as a school in 1888 before becoming a church in 1950. Its history reflects the struggles of the Protestant community in the region. By the 16th century Loipersbach already had an evangelical parish, but after the Counter-Reformation it was absorbed into Agendorf’s parish. Only after the First World War, when Burgenland became Austrian, did Loipersbach regain independence in 1932. Visitors find a simple, whitewashed church with a modest tower altered in 1958. Inside, the former school rooms remain visible in the layout. The quiet surroundings of Loipersbach offer a peaceful view across Burgenland’s rolling hills.
