Pfarrkirche hl. Rosalia, Moschendorf

The parish church of Moschendorf stands in the centre of the village on a tree-lined green. Built in 1773 to replace a small chapel dedicated to Saint Rosalia, it became a parish church in 1788. The building has been restored several times, most recently in 1947 and 1967–68. A three-storey tower rises at the south side, capped by a pointed spire. Above the tower door hangs the coat of arms of the Batthyány family, a prominent Hungarian noble house.
Inside, the single nave is wide and bright, divided into three bays under barrel vaults with lunettes. Double pilasters carry transverse arches that support the ceiling. A broad triumphal arch separates the apse from the nave. The square sanctuary has ribbed vaulting, while the apse itself is covered by a shell vault with a central rib. The high altar, dating from the late 18th century, is framed like a wall with a painting of Saint Rosalia between wooden statues of Saints Sebastian and Roch.
The side altar, also from the late 18th century, is a wall altar with a tall superstructure. Its painting of the Holy Family is flanked by wooden figures of Saints Anthony and Donatus. The pulpit, built around 1780, has been dismantled and reassembled as a lectern, topped by a seated figure of Saint Matthew. The organ case, from 1780, contains an instrument with eight stops installed by the Hopferwieser brothers in 1938.
