The Cut
The Cut Arts Centre stands in the Suffolk market town of Halesworth. It is a theatre and arts venue run by local people for local people. The building provides space for music, theatre, dance, comedy, cinema, workshops and art exhibitions. A cafe and licensed bar serve visitors and staff who work in the rented office spaces inside. The centre is a registered charity supported by the community and its Lottery Club benefactors. Over its twenty-year history The Cut has welcomed more than forty thousand visitors. It once hosted the HighTide Festival every May until the festival moved away in 2014. Since then the centre has presented the annual INK Festival, created by founder James Holloway. The Halesworth Arts Festival took place each October and featured artists of the highest calibre from around the world. Visitors came from across the South East to attend these events. Inside, the building offers a flexible auditorium used for performances and screenings. The exhibition gallery shows work by local and visiting artists. The cafe serves food and drink throughout the day. Outside, the town’s streets provide a quiet walk after the show. The centre remains a lively place where art and community meet.
