Chalfont & Latimer station

Chalfont & Latimer station stands in Little Chalfont, Buckinghamshire, on the edge of London fare zone eight. It serves four nearby villages and links the Metropolitan line to London with the Chiltern Railways route to Aylesbury. The station opened in 1889 as Chalfont Road and received its present name in 1915. Just before the junction for Chesham, it marks the last stop before trains branch off. The building sits beside the Chess Valley, a quiet ribbon of water and woodland that invites walkers. Steam trains once pulled into the station, changing engines at Rickmansworth before electric services began in 1960. Goods trains once loaded and unloaded here until the yard closed in 1966.
