Grillmayr Schlößl
The Grillmayr Schlössl stands in the Linz district of Kleinmünchen as a former factory owner’s villa. It forms part of an ensemble with a neighbouring workers’ house and the factory halls of the former spinning mill, now Linz Textil. The villa is protected as a historic monument. Built between 1845 and 1852 by the Grillmayer family, the house replaced an earlier mill complex. The family secured both the buildings and the water rights to the Weidingerbach stream. After the mill was demolished, the new two-storey villa was arranged around a U-shaped courtyard. Early historicist detailing and terracotta decoration appear on the north front, which has thirteen bays and a central round-arched portal framed by pilasters. The east façade was designed as a grand garden front, with a three-bay gabled centre and triple round-arched arcades below a balcony on four Doric stone columns. The original ornamental garden once featured exotic plants. Inside the courtyard another balcony overlooks the space, while the west side shows simpler pilaster work and keystone decoration. The villa served as a summer residence for the Grillmayer and Hörzinger families through the late 19th century.
