Reichshofstadion

The Reichshofstadion stands in Lustenau in Austria’s westernmost province of Vorarlberg. Built in 1951, it is mainly used for football and serves as the home ground of SC Austria Lustenau. The stadium once held an athletics track, but this was removed to make room for extra seating. Underfloor heating was added to the pitch in 2000 to keep the turf playable in winter. The main grandstand was rebuilt in 1995 after earlier work in 1953 gave the ground its first proper stand. The stadium is worth visiting for its unusual features and recent changes. In 2018 it was renamed Planet Pure Stadium after a sponsor that makes ecological cleaning products. A further rebranding is planned for the 2025–26 season under the name Sun Minimeal Arena. The most striking addition is the Hugo Kleinbrod Chapel, opened in 2007, which makes the ground the first football stadium in Austria to have its own chapel. Inside, visitors find a modern football stadium with covered and uncovered stands. The pitch is heated from below and the main stand dates from 1995. The chapel sits within the stadium grounds and is used for weddings and christenings for fans of SC Austria Lustenau. The setting is simple and functional, focused on the needs of players and supporters rather than grand architecture.
