Easan Mor
Easan Mòr is a waterfall in the Highland region of Scotland. It stands where the River Affric cuts through steep hills near the village of Cannich. The name comes from the Gaelic word ‘eas’, meaning waterfall. Highland rivers often plunge sharply here because of the rugged landscape. The wet climate keeps the falls flowing strongly all year. The falls rank among Scotland’s highest single-drop waterfalls. Their exact height is debated, as some lists measure the tallest single drop while others add smaller drops together. Easan Mòr appears on Ordnance Survey maps used by walkers and climbers. The surrounding area has many other falls, but this one draws visitors for its dramatic drop. A path leads from the car park near the River Affric up to the base of the falls. The final approach crosses a wooden bridge over a deep pool. From the viewing point, the water drops over a sheer granite face into a narrow gorge. The sound of the fall fills the glen, and spray rises in the wind. On sunny days, rainbows often appear in the mist. The walk takes about an hour each way through quiet woodland.
