The parish church of Tigring stands on a slight rise above the village of Tigring in the Moosburg valley. It is dedicated to Saint Giles and overlooks the surrounding farmland and distant hills. The church belongs to a small parish that also includes three outlying chapels at Faning, Freudenberg and Nußberg. A narrow road winds up from the village to the churchyard gate.

The church began as a Romanesque building in the 12th century but was rebuilt in the 14th century in the Gothic style. Later, in the 17th and 18th centuries, it was enlarged and decorated in the Baroque manner. The Gothic choir has stepped buttresses and a five-sided apse, while the tower still shows traces of its former defensive role. Inside, a flat Baroque ceiling covers the nave, painted around 1845 by Christoph Brandstätter with scenes of the Trinity and the Annunciation. On the north wall, fragments of 14th-century frescoes depict the Creation, the Fall of the Rebel Angels and the Grave of Christ.

The high altar, made about 1680, is a richly carved Baroque structure topped by a statue of Saint Giles. To the left is a side altar with a Madonna and Child, and to the right another altar and an 18th-century pulpit. The Antonius chapel, added in 1670, contains an early Baroque altarpiece and a painted ceiling. Nearby stands a small Romanesque charnel house, once used for burials, now serving as a funeral hall. The churchyard offers quiet views over the valley.
