Teatro Palapartenope

Teatro Palapartenope stands in Naples’s western quarter of Fuorigrotta, near the city’s biggest sports and exhibition sites. Built in 1975, the building began life as a simple tent theatre before moving to its present site beside the Mostra d’Oltremare in 1980. Over the years its capacity has grown from 1 250 seats to 3 300 seats, with room for 6 500 standing spectators. The theatre is one of southern Italy’s leading venues for music, culture and entertainment. It has hosted concerts by headline Italian acts such as Pino Daniele, Lucio Dalla, Emma Marrone and Elodie. International stars who have appeared include Iron Maiden, Paul McCartney, Elton John and B.B. King. Next door, La Casa della Musica Federico I offers a separate hall for younger audiences. Inside, the main hall can be set up for seated or standing events. The adjoining music house provides a modern space for recitals and rehearsals. Outside, the surrounding area links to the city’s sports grounds and exhibition grounds, making the whole district a lively cultural quarter.
