Pfarrkirche hll. Bartholomäus und Katharina, Kronstorf

The parish church in Kronstorf stands in the centre of the small market town of Kronstorf in Upper Austria. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Linz and is dedicated to Saints Bartholomew and Catherine. The church and its surrounding cemetery are protected as historic monuments. The building shows clear signs of its long history. The choir dates from the late Gothic period, with a three-sided closure and ribbed vaulting. The single-aisled nave, completed in the 17th century, has a barrel-vaulted ceiling with intersecting ribs. A tall late-Gothic tower rises beside the choir on the south side, while the west front still preserves its narrower Gothic façade. Inside, the furnishings follow the neo-Gothic style. The high altar’s painting was created by G. Schaller in 1855. The organ, built by Matthäus Mauracher in 1879, has eleven stops and two manuals. The church’s interior and exterior together give a quiet impression of Upper Austrian church architecture across the centuries.
