Seekarspitze (Vorkarwendel)

Seekarspitze (Vorkarwendel)

The Seekarspitze rises above the western shore of the Achensee in the Karwendel range of Tirol. It stands at the eastern edge of the massif, its summit reaching 2053 metres. The route starts in Achenkirch at Scholastika, a village 934 metres above sea level. Walkers follow a track to the Seekaralm at 1500 metres before turning onto the mountain path that leads to the top. The climb is straightforward but demands sure-footedness on rocky sections.

The peak rewards those who reach it with wide views across the Achensee and the valleys below. From the summit ridge a narrow arête connects to the slightly higher Seebergspitze, 2085 metres high. Together these two peaks form a striking skyline that draws experienced hikers. A full traverse of the ridge can be made by continuing down to Pertisau on the southern side. The saddle between the two summits lies at about 1900 metres, offering a natural break on the journey.

On the northern side the slopes fall away steeply, while the southern flank is gentler. Walkers who prefer climbing steeper ground should therefore start from Achenkirch and head southwards along the ridge. A side path from the saddle drops to the Pasillalm on the western flank, then follows a forest track back to the Seekaralm. The contrast between the open summit and the wooded lower slopes makes the whole route memorable.
