Torboll Fall

Torboll Fall is a waterfall near Golspie in the Scottish Highlands. It stands within species-rich deciduous woodland called Torboll Woods, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The site lies beside the A9 road, making it easy to reach. A fish ladder runs alongside the fall to help migrating fish pass upstream. Visitors can watch the water tumbling from the bottom of the ladder or from a bridge above. The waterfall’s setting in protected woodland supports a variety of plants and animals. Its clear waters attract salmon and trout during their spawning runs. The fish ladder allows these fish to bypass the fall safely. The site’s scientific importance means rare or unusual species may be spotted. The woodland also offers shade and shelter along the path. A bridge crosses the top of the fall, giving views straight down the cascade. The fish ladder provides another viewpoint at water level. The surrounding trees frame the scene with green foliage.
