Tiefkarspitze

The Tiefkarspitze is a mountain in the Karwendel range, part of the Northern Karwendel chain. It stands at 2 430 metres on the border between Germany and Austria. The summit lies between the Wörner and the Westliche Karwendelspitze. The massif is known for its rugged ridges and steep faces. The area is popular with experienced hikers and mountaineers. The climb requires sure-footedness and a head for heights. Views from the top stretch across the Alps in both countries.
The mountain is recognised as an important peak in the Karwendel. Its height and position make it a challenge for climbers. The ridge walk to the summit is technical and exposed. Guides often lead groups along this route in summer. The surrounding peaks add to the dramatic scenery. The contrast between the German and Austrian sides adds interest.
Visitors find a rocky summit with a small summit cross. The route follows narrow paths and scrambles over boulders. Snow patches may linger into early summer. The steep slopes drop away sharply on both sides. The air is thin and the wind can be strong. The sense of isolation is clear once climbers leave the crowds below.
