Bachlenkenkopf

The Bachlenkenkopf is a mountain summit in the Venediger Group of the High Tauern range in East Tyrol, Austria. It stands at the southern end of the Rosenspitz ridge, just northwest of the Neue Reichenberger Hütte. The mountain has two summits: a higher western peak and a lower eastern one crowned by a summit cross. Between them lies a broad, grassy dome that slopes gently down to the Bachlenke col in the west and the Graue Wand ridge in the east. The climb from the Neue Reichenberger Hütte follows a well-marked path up the eastern arête to the lower summit. The route passes the Bachlenke at 2,608 metres before reaching the grassy saddle below the eastern peak. From there the final section leads over easy ground to the summit cross. The mountain is often climbed as part of a traverse of the Rosenspitz ridge. Visitors find open alpine meadows and sweeping views across the Venediger Group. To the east the small Göslessee glints below steep cliffs, while the Trojeralmtal stretches southward toward the Defereggen valley. The broad summit offers a quiet vantage point over the surrounding peaks and glaciers, with the Neue Reichenberger Hütte visible to the southeast.
