Historical fire station in Fischamend-Dorf

The fire station in Fischamend-Dorf stands in the village quarter of Fischamend-Dorf, part of the town of Fischamend in Lower Austria. The building is protected as a historic monument and houses a small fire brigade museum. A statue of Saint Florian, the patron of firefighters, stands outside the entrance. The fire brigade itself began in 1888, and the present hall was built in 1928 to designs by architects Robert Kramreiter and Walter Pind. The local unit merged with the main town brigade in 1992 and the building became a museum in 2005. Its expressionist style makes it an important example of early 20th-century architecture in the region. Visitors find a single-storey brick hall with a tall, curved gable and narrow windows. Inside, historic fire engines, helmets and uniforms from the last century are displayed. The Saint Florian statue in front shows the saint in traditional firefighter’s gear. The quiet village street and surrounding fields add to the calm atmosphere.
