Antique Breadboard Museum

The Antique Breadboard Museum is a small museum in Putney, London, dedicated entirely to breadboards and related items. It occupies an early terraced Victorian cottage in a conservation area between Charlwood Road and Lifford Street. The building itself reflects the 19th-century character of the neighbourhood. The collection was assembled by antique dealer Rosslyn Neave over many years. After her death in 2017, her daughter Madeleine opened the museum to share the boards with the public. The display includes more than 400 breadboards dating from 1848 to the 1990s, alongside bread knives, butter knives and butter dishes. The earliest piece is a board carved by William Gibbs Rogers in 1848. Visitors sit around a single table to view the items up close, guided by Madeleine Neave. The room holds only four people at a time, making each visit a personal tour. The museum also features a book, *Vintage Breadboards*, with recipes contributed by Marie Lester. Outside, Putney High Street is a short walk away, with buses and Putney railway station nearby.
