Calvary Sankt Radegund bei Graz

The Kalvarienberg in St Radegund bei Graz stands on the western edge of the village in the hills above the Mur valley. It is a terraced Stationsweg with a small church and side buildings arranged around a steep path. The site began in the late 18th century on a slope once called Trattner-Leit’n, and later restorations kept its form intact.
The Stationsweg has fourteen chapels, each with statues or frescoes that tell the Passion story. Philipp Jakob Straub carved several figures in the 1770s, while later hands added more. A late-baroque Holy Staircase climbs inside one chapel, its walls painted with scenes of Jacob’s dream and architecture. The church beside it holds a copy of the Wies Geisselchristus on its high altar, and walls covered with frescoes uncovered in 1978–79.
Visitors walk the Stationsweg past the frescoed chapels and the Holy Staircase. The church shows baroque frescoes of the four Evangelists, God the Father with angels, and scenes from the life of Mary. At the top stands a late-18th-century crucifixion group framed by mourners. The whole hillside keeps the quiet atmosphere of a place built for devotion.
