Kelso RFC

Kelso RFC is a rugby union club founded in 1876. It plays at Poynder Park in Kelso, a small town in the Scottish Borders. The club fields men’s and women’s teams, competing in the Scottish Premiership and the Border League. The Border League is the oldest established rugby union league in the world. The men’s team has won the Scottish Premiership twice, in 1988 and 1989. The club has a strong history of success in sevens tournaments. Between 1978 and 1989, Kelso won the Melrose Sevens seven times. They also reached the final of the Scottish Cup at Murrayfield in 1998 and 1999, narrowly missing out on both occasions. The club has won nineteen Kelso Sevens titles, the most recent in 2025. Adam Roxburgh became head coach in 2015, and Dom Buckley captained the team in 2016–17. Visitors to Poynder Park find a well-kept ground with stands and club facilities. The annual Kelso Sevens tournament draws local and regional teams in May. The club’s honours include multiple titles in regional sevens competitions. The men’s team has also twice won the Scottish Premiership. The atmosphere on match days reflects the club’s proud traditions.
