Rowley Lodge Field

Rowley Lodge Field is a small nature reserve in Rowley Green, part of the London Borough of Barnet. It covers an old hay meadow with grassland rich in wild flowers and scattered oak trees. The meadow contains great burnet and pignut, plants typical of undisturbed grassland. Patches of acid grassland grow red fescue, sheep’s sorrel and tormentil. The site sits beside Rowley Lane near the junction with Rowley Green Road. The reserve is valued for its plant diversity and quiet setting. It provides a habitat for wild flowers that have become scarce in improved farmland. Access follows a footpath from Rowley Lane, crossing a stile into the meadow. A second path leads through the field to a small wood and on to Brickfield Lane. The route is simple and open to the public every day. Visitors find open grassland dotted with oaks and colourful wild flowers. The small wood at the far end offers shade and shelter. The whole area remains peaceful, with few visitors and no facilities. It is a place to walk slowly and notice the changing seasons in the meadow and trees.
