Pfarrkirche Traboch

The parish church of Traboch stands on a rise above the village of the same name in the Leoben district of Styria. It belongs to the Diocese of Graz-Seckau and is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Myra. The church and its surrounding cemetery are protected as a listed monument.
The church began in 1274 under Landrichter Gerold and the Count of Pfannberg, later placed under Stift Admont. Its core is Romanesque, though it has been enlarged several times. A square tower rises above the choir, built in 1675 with a bulbous dome. The northern sacristy, likely the original chapel, still shows Romanesque features like a small apsidal recess and tiny slit windows. The nave was widened westward in 1843, while the choir and sacristy portal retain late-Gothic details.
Inside, the high altar from 1754 has carved figures and a niche curtain. The left side altar, attributed to Georg Remele, dates to 1654 and comes from Göß. The neobaroque organ was installed by Matthäus Mauracher near the end of the 19th century. The churchyard walls enclose quiet spaces, and the building’s mix of styles shows how it grew over centuries.
