The Stempelbrunnen stands on Bruno-Pittermann-Platz in Meidling, the 12th district of Vienna. It sits beside the U-Bahn station Längenfeldgasse, making it easy to reach by public transport. Austrian artist Josef Trattner designed the fountain, which was unveiled in 1988. Its six-metre-wide granite discs are arranged like a stamp’s base, slightly curved and set flush with the ground.
