Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium stands in north London on the site of the former White Hart Lane ground. It is the club’s home since April 2019 and the third largest football stadium in England. The stadium also hosts NFL games and major concerts. A retractable synthetic pitch divides to reveal natural grass for football. The building is part of a wider regeneration plan for Tottenham. The stadium replaced the old ground as the centrepiece of the Northumberland Development Project. Construction began in 2015 after years of planning and legal disputes. The project aimed to create a 20-year regeneration zone around the stadium. It includes new homes, shops and a club museum. The stadium’s design was led by Populous with Christopher Lee. The NFL partnership brought American football to London. Visitors enter through wide concourses with views of the pitch. The stands rise steeply to seat 62,850 spectators. The East Stand has a long standing terrace called The Shelf. Behind the scenes, the stadium has modern facilities for players and media. Outside, new streets and buildings form part of the ongoing regeneration. The area around the stadium is changing into a busy district.
