Heimatmuseum Beuel
The Heimatmuseum Beuel is a local history museum in Bonn. It occupies four old buildings arranged around a courtyard in Wagnergasse, a street once called Steinerstraße. The oldest building dates from 1662, giving the site a long past. The museum was opened in 1986 by Beuel’s Local Historical Society. Its displays trace the area’s history from Roman times to today. The museum concentrates on Beuel’s former main trade, its laundries, and shows how the town developed. Inside are furnishings, an old classroom and a hairdresser’s room. Outside stands a herb garden, a pair of old gravestones and two unexploded bombs from the Second World War. All the work is done by retired volunteers who also lead tours. Visitors walk through the four buildings and the courtyard. The herb garden and gravestones lie beside the entrance. The guided tours explain the exhibits in detail. The museum offers a quiet look at everyday life in past centuries.
