WWT Arundel

WWT Arundel is a wildfowl and wetland nature reserve managed by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. It covers 60 acres at the foot of Offham Hangar in the Arun valley near Arundel, West Sussex. The reserve protects endangered species such as the Hawaiian goose, the world’s rarest goose and Hawaii’s state bird. Many ducks, geese and swans live here alongside pelicans and other waterbirds. The site offers habitats inspired by places around the globe. The reserve is known for its Coastal Creek aviary where sea ducks dive for fish in a cut-away tank. Pelican Cove houses four female Dalmatian pelicans and daily keeper talks. Eight wildlife hides let visitors watch nesting kingfishers and sand martins in spring. Summer wildflowers brighten the landscape and marsh harriers roost in winter. Boat safaris through reedbeds are led by WWT guides every day. Visitors can see captive species like the red-breasted goose and marbled duck alongside wild birds including moorhens, kingfishers and sand martins. Reed and sedge warblers sing in the reedbeds while water voles move through the wetlands. The reserve’s paths wind past aviaries, ponds and hides, giving close views of birds from around the world.
