King's College London

King’s College London stands beside the Thames in central London, its Strand Campus facing the river near Somerset House. The university occupies five main sites across the city, from the historic Strand to the medical campuses at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals. Founded in 1829 under royal charter, it began as an Anglican response to the secular University College London. The Duke of Wellington helped secure its foundation and later took part in a famous duel nearby over religious principles. Across its sites, statues and portraits recall former principals, governors and alumni. The Denmark Hill campus in south London combines modern laboratories with landscaped gardens.
