Schloss Seebarn

Schloss Seebarn am Wagram is a Renaissance castle with medieval roots, standing in the village of Seebarn am Wagram. It lies within the market town of Grafenwörth in the Tulln district of Lower Austria. The building is protected as a listed monument. The castle’s history stretches back to 1309, when it belonged to the Schenken von Seebarn. Ownership passed through several noble families: the Zellers around 1488, the Straub family by 1590, the Auerspergs in 1592, and the Verdenbergs in 1664. The Enckevorts acquired it in 1688 and merged it with Grafenegg. Later it became part of the Metternich-Sandor estates and remains in private hands today. The structure still shows its 16th-century Renaissance style around an older medieval core and a surviving defensive tower. Visitors find a quiet country house set among farmland, its stone walls and tower rising above the surrounding fields. The private ownership keeps daily life on the estate peaceful and unspoilt.
