Sixways Stadium

Sixways Stadium stands on the edge of Worcester beside the M5 motorway. The ground opened in 1975 on the site of the old third-team pitch and clubhouse, later rebuilt with a lottery grant in 1998. It sits off junction six of the motorway, which splits into six directions, giving the stadium its name. The complex now hosts rugby union and football matches for Worcester Warriors and Worcester City. It also contains sixty modern meeting and event rooms for conferences and private events. The stadium is worth the journey for its role in major finals and finals of cup competitions. In 2010 it hosted the LV Cup final between Northampton Saints and Gloucester, won by Northampton 30–24. Two years later Leicester Tigers beat Northampton Saints 26–14 in the same competition. The Britbowl, the British American football championship, was played here twice, in 2010 and 2016. Inside the Cecil Duckworth Stand visitors find The PitchView Restaurant, several suites and the Slick Systems Supporters bar. The West Stand houses the Clubhouse Bar, a food counter and terracing for watching games. The South Stand offers thirty hospitality boxes and a bar area behind the goalposts. The North Stand is planned to be enlarged to match the Slick Systems Stand in the future.
