Aylesbury United F.C.

Aylesbury United Football Club plays in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, on the shared Meadow ground with Chesham United. The club began in 1897 when three local sides merged. They have spent most of their history in regional leagues and are nicknamed the Ducks after the Aylesbury duck. The club’s record attendance of 7,440 came in 1951 when Watford visited Buckingham Road. In 1988 England used the same ground for a warm-up match before Euro 88, drawing 6,031 fans. Aylesbury reached the FA Cup third round in 1994–95 and won the Isthmian League Cup that season. Visitors find a modest ground with a small stand and open terraces. The Meadow is a simple football field surrounded by low fences and a few trees. On match days the atmosphere is friendly and local, with supporters standing near the dugouts. The club shop sells scarves and programmes near the entrance. After games fans often gather at a nearby pub to talk about the game.
