Georgischlössl
The Georgischlössl is a Tudor-style castle in Ehrenhausen, a village along the South Styrian Wine Route. It stands on a small hill at the start of the wine road, built in the 1850s for Count Attems from an earlier country house. The building is protected as a historic monument and shows the English Tudor influence clearly in its design. The castle has passed through many hands: the poet Stefan von Milow owned it between 1870 and 1880, then came Italian, English and Belgian aristocrats before it served as a military hospital during the Second World War. After the war it became British property, and in 1960 a fine wine tavern opened inside. The Haring family has owned it since 2015 and now rents the rooms for events and weddings. A stone gateway links the castle to its old watchtower; this gate originally stood on a covered bridge over the Mur built in 1739. The bridge was removed in 1901, but the right-bank portal was rebuilt here with its Leslie and Sternberg coats of arms preserved. Visitors can walk through the gateway, view the castle’s interiors during tours, and enjoy the vineyards and wine taverns of the surrounding wine route.
