Ayr RFC

Ayr RFC is a rugby union club based in the town of Ayr in South Ayrshire. It plays at Millbrae in Alloway, a ground with two full-size pitches and a grandstand overlooking one of them. The clubhouse beside the pitches contains changing rooms, a function room and a bar. Millbrae sits next to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and can be reached from Alloway or through a small gate beside the museum. Ayr has fielded men’s and women’s teams since 1897. The men’s side now plays in the Scottish Premiership and the women’s in Scottish Women’s West One. Between 2019 and 2024 Ayr ran a professional men’s team called the Ayrshire Bulls in the Super 6 league, with a 35-player squad that included Gordon Reid, who had joined from London Irish and was in Scotland’s 2019 Rugby World Cup squad. The club also fields Club XV, a second XV, and teams from under-4s up to under-18s. Visitors to Millbrae find two rugby pitches, one with a grandstand, and a clubhouse used for changing and social events. The ground has been Ayr’s home since 1964, after earlier grounds at Newton Park, Dam Park, the Old Racecourse and King George V playing field. A gate beside the Burns museum offers a quieter approach, while the grandstand looks out over the main pitch where league and cup matches are played.
