Pfarrkirche St. Margarethen bei Lebring
The parish church of St Margarethen bei Lebring stands in the market town of Lebring-Sankt Margarethen in the Leibnitz district of Styria. It belongs to the deanery of Leibnitz in the diocese of Graz-Seckau and is dedicated to Saint Margaret of Antioch. The building has held listed status since the 20th century. The church’s origins may lie in a 10th-century castle chapel, first recorded in 1066. The tower was added in 1516 and the nave widened in 1705. A major restoration took place in 1966. The parish itself dates from 1126 and was administered by Suben Abbey until 1784. Inside, the four-bay nave is vaulted with flat Platzl ribs on double pilasters. A three-bay west gallery overlooks the space. The high altar, rebuilt in 1851, dates from the early 18th century, while the side altars show mid-18th-century Rococo carving. The late-Gothic octagonal font sits beneath the gallery. Outside, three Gothic heads are set into the choir wall.
