Ceann Garbh Meallan Chuaich

Meallan Chuaich stands on the northern edge of the Fannaichs range in the Scottish Highlands. The ridge rises above the valley of the River Orrin and looks south over Loch Monar. Its slopes are covered with heather and bog grass, typical of the wet moorland here. The hill is recognised as an Is‑Marilyn, a HuMP and a Graham Top of Munro. Hill‑walkers use these lists to plan routes and measure progress. The Database of British and Irish Hills keeps the official records and welcomes new surveys. A narrow stalkers’ path climbs the southern shoulder to the summit. From the top the view stretches over the Fannaichs to the distant Torridon peaks. On clear days Ben Wyvis appears to the north. The silence is broken only by the cry of golden plover and the rush of wind across the plateau.
