Pfarrkirche hl. Dreifaltigkeit, Weißbach bei Lofer
The late-baroque parish church of the Holy Trinity stands at the eastern edge of Weißbach bei Lofer, a village in the Salzburg countryside. Its single-naved hall was designed in 1791 by Wolfgang Hagenauer, replacing an earlier church first recorded in 1663. The building and its surrounding cemetery have been protected monuments since the 20th century. Inside, the white-plastered nave and raised choir show plain flat ceilings and a continuous cornice. The west gallery is made of wood, and the ceiling painting of the Virgin sheltering the faithful dates from 1949. Stained glass from 1907 fills the rectangular windows, while the high altar carries a 1750s carved group of the Coronation of Mary and figures of Saints Michael and Gabriel. The churchyard includes a small northern chapel for the dead, its walls lined with a 19th-century Ecce Homo and a Mater dolorosa. The organ, installed in the 19th century, rings out alongside bells cast in 1667 and 1801. The simple stone church, set among the village’s quiet lanes, offers a place of calm reflection beside the graves.
