Burgstall Boden
The Burgstall Boden stands on a hilltop at 425 metres above sea level near the village of Boden in Upper Franconia. It was once a small medieval fortress belonging to the Lords of Hirschaid. Records from 1499 mention the castle, but by 1692 it had already fallen into ruin. The site offers a quiet walk through grassy slopes and scattered stone remains. Visitors can still trace the outline of the old walls and towers. The view stretches across the surrounding countryside, giving a sense of the castle’s strategic position. A short path leads from Boden up to the hill, making the ruins easy to reach. The area is peaceful, with few visitors, allowing time to imagine how the castle once looked. It is a place where history can be felt in the landscape itself.
