Binnein an Fhidhleir

Binnein an Fhidhleir stands in the Arrochar Alps, a group of peaks in Argyll and Bute, western Scotland. It lies above Butter Bridge beside the A83 road, facing Beinn an Lochain across the valley. The mountain has several tops, the highest being Stob Coire Creagach at 817 metres. Binnein an Fhidhleir itself reaches 811 metres, while Creag Bhrosgan stands at 770 metres. One unnamed top rises to 748 metres, making the massif a varied climb. The mountain is worth the journey for walkers seeking a quiet Arrochar Alps summit. The shortest route starts from the car park above Butter Bridge, though the slope is steep and rough. A longer but gentler option follows the northern ridge from Glen Kinglas, avoiding the steepest ground. Stob Coire Creagach replaced Binnein an Fhidhleir as the Marilyn in 2006, yet the older name still covers the whole mountain. On the hill you find open grassy slopes and small crags that must be skirted. The summit area offers wide views across Glen Kinglas and the surrounding Arrochar Alps. The Butter Bridge car park provides a straightforward start, while the northern ridge route gives a longer approach through quiet glen country. The mountain’s modest height keeps it free of crowds, making it a peaceful place to walk.
