Lehener Stadion
Stadion Lehen stood on the Salzach’s left bank in Salzburg’s Lehener district. Built in 1952, the multi-purpose stadium held 14,684 spectators for football matches. SV Austria Salzburg played their home games here until 2002. A renovation in 1971 modernised the facilities before the club moved to Wals-Siezenheim in 2003. By 2006 the old ground had been cleared away. The site once echoed with the chants of local supporters. The stadium’s final match marked the end of an era for Salzburger football. After the team departed, the venue stood empty until demolition began. Neighbouring blocks now occupy the former pitch area. Visitors today find a quiet residential quarter where terraced housing lines the former boundary. A small park occupies part of the footprint, offering benches and a children’s playground. The Salzach cycle path passes close by, linking the district to the city centre.
