Ried-Kirchheim airfield

The Flugplatz Ried-Kirchheim is a small civil public sport airfield in the Innviertel region of Upper Austria. It sits west of Kirchheim village on a flat stretch of land between the Waldzeller Ache stream and the L141 road. Opened in 1960 with a grass runway, the site gained an asphalt runway in 1987 that now measures the present length. The single runway can handle aircraft up to 5.7 tonnes all-up weight. A variety of aircraft use the field: powered aeroplanes, motor gliders, sailplanes, helicopters, ultralights and parachutists. On the site there are hangar buildings, a control tower, a refuelling point and a restaurant. The operator’s club, SFC Ried, maintains the facilities and runs events. Visitors find open grass around the runway and paved areas beside the hangars and control tower. The restaurant offers views across the apron to the runway and the surrounding Innviertel countryside. The control tower stands close to the apron, giving a clear view of arrivals and departures.
