Twinlakes Theme Park

Twinlakes is a theme park half a kilometre north-east of Melton Mowbray in the East Midlands. It sits on 40 hectares of flat parkland that was farmland until 2002. The site opened in September 2003 after eleven months of building. Nearly every ride is aimed at young children, so adults without children cannot enter. The park is divided into colour-coded zones, but each zone mixes different kinds of attractions instead of grouping similar ones together. The park mixes gentle rides with faster attractions to keep all ages busy. A small zoo and falconry centre sit beside a roller coaster and a log flume. Children can race go-karts, swing on the Excalibur chair ride or fly on the Icarus sky flyer. Toddlers ride a dragon-themed roundabout while older siblings tackle an assault course or toboggan slide. A miniature railway with an oriental style carries visitors between zones, passing a boating lake and model village. Visitors follow paths that link the zones without long walks. The boating lake reflects the sky and the railway bridge. The falconry centre holds daily flying displays with trained birds. The model village shows miniature buildings from around the world. Groups can ride bumper boats or the horse-ride Joust. The park’s slogan promises fun whatever the weather, and the mix of animals, rides and water keeps families occupied all day.
