Monument aux morts des 132e - 332e RI et 46eTerritorial à Reims

The monument to the dead of the 132nd and 332nd Infantry Regiments and the 46th Territorial Regiment stands on place Léon Bourgeois in Reims. It was designed by architect Émile Fanjat with local sculptor Paul Lefebvre. The bronze soldier on top wears full First World War uniform and faces the street. The monument was paid for by public subscription begun in 1921 by veterans of the 132nd Infantry, once based in Reims’s caserne Neufchâtel. It was unveiled on 11 November 1925 in cours Langlet before being moved in 1933 to its present site. A plaque lists the regiments and carries a carved fern. Visitors find a simple square plinth topped by the standing soldier. The inscription names the 132nd, 332nd and 46th Regiments for both world wars. Behind it, the neighbouring Boucherie fountain adds a small splash of water to the scene.
