River Ithon

The River Ithon is a left-bank tributary of the River Wye in Powys, mid Wales. It begins in the broad saddle between Kerry Hill and Glog, flowing southwards to Llanbadarn Fynydd. The river then twists through villages like Llanbister and Llanddewi Ystradenny before turning southwest. It doubles back north towards Crossgates before heading southwest again past Llandrindod Wells. The Ithon finally meets the Wye near Newbridge-on-Wye after flowing past the site of Cefnllys Castle. The Camddwr is a left-bank tributary of the Ithon. It rises east of Llanbister in undulating countryside and flows southwest to join the Ithon at Abercamddwr. This smaller river adds to the Ithon’s flow as it winds through the landscape. The Ithon’s winding route covers a varied terrain of hills and farmland.
