Eilean Dubh

Eilean Dubh is a small island in the Summer Isles, set in Loch Broom in the north-west Highlands. It lies north-west of Tanera Mòr and forms part of the Scoraig peninsula group. The highest point on the north-west side reaches 87 metres above sea level. The island is uninhabited except for a pair of American visitors who stay for part of the year. A small inlet on the north-east coast is called the Arcasaid an Eilein Dhuibh. Ferries between Ullapool and Stornoway pass close by the island’s southern edge. Visitors find a quiet, grassy landscape with no permanent buildings. The shoreline curves gently around the inlet, and the surrounding waters offer views of the wider loch. The island’s modest height gives panoramas across Loch Broom and towards the hills beyond.
