Stangmore Park

Stangmore Park is a football stadium in Dungannon, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It stands on land bought by Dungannon Swifts from a local company and opened in 1975. The ground began with a temporary wooden social club before a permanent clubhouse replaced it in 1982. The pitch is surrounded by a grass embankment that holds around 2,000 spectators, with 300 seats provided. Floodlights rise above the main stand, illuminating evening matches. The ground has faced challenges that show its role beyond local football. In 2006, vandals caused damage during a cup semi-final weekend, scattering broken glass across the pitch and goals. Despite this, the Irish Football Association has nominated Stangmore Park when other clubs’ grounds did not meet Premiership standards. Ballinamallard United and Warrenpoint Town both played early season home games there while their own grounds were improved. Warrenpoint Town’s final game at Stangmore Park ended in a 2–1 victory over Coleraine before they returned to their own stadium. Visitors find a compact football ground with a single seated stand and open embankments on three sides. The pitch sits in a quiet part of Dungannon, close to housing and small shops. On match days, the clubhouse opens for teas and programmes, while floodlights cast a glow over the ground at night. Beyond football, the stadium has hosted kickboxing events, showing its flexible use. The atmosphere is modest but lively, shaped by local supporters and visiting fans.
