Ruine Ravensburg
The Ravensburg ruin lies south of where the Hürbe meets the Brenz, between Hermaringen and Bergenweiler in the Heidenheim district. Only faint traces of the old walls and ditches remain above ground. The site once belonged to a castle called Ravensburg, though its exact origins are unclear. Historians such as Günter Schmitt have recorded the ruin in guides to Swabian castles. The 1995 volume on the eastern Alb describes the spot as a quiet relic of medieval fortification. Visitors today see a low, grassy mound with shallow depressions where ditches once cut the earth. A short walk from the lane brings you to the overgrown clearing. The only signs are the earthworks and a few scattered stones. The surrounding fields stretch away to the Brenz valley, giving a sense of isolation from the modern villages nearby.
