Moor Copse Nature Reserve

Moor Copse is a 65-hectare nature reserve west of Reading in Berkshire. It lies in the valley of the River Pang and is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust. Parts of the reserve extend into Sulham and Tidmarsh Woods and Meadows, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The landscape includes wildflower meadows surrounded by wet woodland. In autumn the woods display a variety of fungi such as deadman’s fingers and green elfcup mushrooms. The reserve supports mammals like foxes and badgers. It also provides habitats for other wildlife within its boundaries. The combination of meadows and wet woodland creates conditions for different species. The River Pang flows through the valley, shaping the reserve’s wetland character. The Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust maintains the site for conservation. Visitors find paths winding through wildflower meadows and shaded woodland. The autumn fungi add colour and interest to woodland walks. Wildlife can be seen moving between meadow and wood. The River Pang offers quiet spots beside its banks. The reserve’s mix of habitats makes it a place for peaceful observation.
