Kilburn Park tube station

Kilburn Park is a London Underground station in the London Borough of Brent. It stands on Cambridge Avenue, about 100 metres west of Kilburn High Road where it becomes Maida Vale. The station belongs to the Bakerloo line, linking Queen’s Park and Maida Vale. It sits in London fare zone two. The building is Grade II listed for its historic value. The station opened on 31 January 1915 as the temporary end of the Bakerloo line’s extension from Paddington. Services reached Queen’s Park just eleven days later. Its design came from Stanley Heaps, who adapted earlier Leslie Green stations but removed the large semi-circular windows. It was one of the first stations built with escalators instead of lifts. Visitors find a station with glazed terracotta façades and a lower concourse leading to the escalators. The platform area remains largely unchanged since the 1920s. Kilburn High Road offers cafés and shops nearby. Night buses N28 and N31 serve the area after the Tube stops. Kilburn High Road Station on the Overground is a short walk away.
