Trichrug Round Barrows

Carnedd gron Trichrug is a prehistoric round cairn in Ceredigion, Wales. It dates from the late Neolithic to early Bronze Age. The site lies in the community of Ciliau Aeron near SN542599. Round cairns were built as part of burial rituals and ceremonies. They differ from ring cairns, which have a different structure. Cadw recognises Trichrug as a scheduled monument with SAM number CD061. The builders were the local prehistoric people. They also constructed chambered tombs, burial mounds, stone circles, hillforts, Irish huts and standing stones. These monuments show how organised and skilled the Neolithic communities were. Visitors find a grassy mound surrounded by farmland. The cairn is not marked by fences or signs. Its quiet setting offers a glimpse of ancient landscapes. The view stretches across rolling hills in Ceredigion. The site is best reached by walking from nearby lanes. It remains an unspoilt place for reflection on the past.
