Ruadh-stac Beag

Ruadh-stac Beag is a mountain top in the Highlands, reached along the route between Loch Torridon and Loch Maree. Its summit bears a small stone cairn marking the highest point. The mountain stands within a vast stretch of open moorland and heather, where red deer often graze in the quiet glens below. It is one of Scotland’s recognised peaks, listed as a Marilyn, Corbett and HuMP. These titles come from its height and its prominence on the skyline. Organisations keep and update these lists on the Database of British and Irish Hills to help walkers choose their routes. A visitor reaches the top by following well-trodden paths through the surrounding hills. The final climb is short but steep, rewarded by wide views across the lochs and mountains. On clear days the eye travels over thirty kilometres to the coast and the islands beyond.
