Teddington Pools and Fitness Centre

Teddington Pools and Fitness Centre stands in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, on Vicarage Road near the A313. The site began as an outdoor lido in 1931 before closing in 1976. It reopened in 1978 as an indoor pool and fitness facility. The building houses a six-lane 25-metre pool, a smaller learner pool, and a hydrotherapy pool measuring 9.5 metres by 5 metres. A gym and studio space are also part of the centre. The pool has long been home to Richmond Swimming Club, which still trains there. After the 1978 rebuild, Teddington Swimming Club was formed and uses the pool regularly. Teddington Sub Aqua Club also trains at the facility. The centre appeared in a 1983 episode of the children’s television series Rainbow. Visitors find a clean, well-maintained indoor pool area with clear lanes for serious swimmers. The learner pool provides a safe space for beginners and children. The hydrotherapy pool offers gentle exercise in warm water. The gym and studio host fitness classes throughout the week. The surrounding area includes residential streets and local shops nearby.
