Station Park

Station Park sits in Forfar, a small town in Angus, Scotland. It is a football ground with two teams calling it home: Forfar Athletic of the Scottish Professional Football League and Forfar Farmington of the Scottish Women’s Premier League. The ground has kept its old-fashioned feel, one of the few left in the league. Its capacity once reached over ten thousand but has since been reduced for safety. The record crowd of 10,780 came in 1970 when Rangers visited. The ground allows views from all four sides of the pitch. Behind the western goal is a large terrace known as the ‘mert end’, named for the cattle market once held nearby. When big matches require separation, visiting fans use this area. On the north side stands a seated grandstand, opened in 1959. The south side has a covered terrace, while the east side offers uncovered terracing and the main food concession. Catering at Station Park includes the local Forfar bridie alongside pies. Plans are in place to rebuild the main stand with modern facilities. The ground’s name comes from its past location near Forfar railway station, closed in 1968 as part of the Beeching cuts. Now, the nearest stations are in Dundee and Arbroath, both about 23 kilometres away, so most visitors arrive by road.
